INFORMATION
FOR INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS
In the
international spirit of previous Megagauss conferences and of the IEEE,
we extend an especially warm invitation to our colleagues from outside
the United States to join us in Maui. Participation by
foreign scientists at Megagauss conferences has significantly enhanced
the technical quality of our meetings, and we are again anticipating a
strong foreign contingent. This is a Conference you should
not miss.
Access to the conference hotel, the Wailea Beach Marriott,
from the Kahului Airport on Maui is easy. The hotel is 16 miles SE of
the airport, and can be reached by taxi (approx. $60 fare), SpeediShuttle
($40/person), or rental car.
The Organizers recognize the difficulties that some international
participants may experience in applying for a visa to enter the US. If appropriate,
the Conference will provide Letters of Invitation and Visa Support. To obtain
such a letter, fill out and submit the form available at the following link.
Allow at least six months from the time you apply for a Visa at a US Embassy or
Consulate or through a visa service. The Conference suggests filing your application
as soon as possible and preferably no later than 15 April 2012. Be sure to indicate information for accompanying persons. who will
also require a Visa.
Unfortunately, at this time, the Conference regrets that we are
unable to provide travel or other financial support (except limited travel
grants for university students) to any attendees.
The Conference language will be English. While the
Conference cannot provide translation services, please take advantage
of the opportunity in your Abstract Submittal to indicate if your
request for an oral presentation would involve speaking through your
interpreter.
For logistical support, and for all other questions, International
Attendees are encouraged to contact:

FINANCIAL INFORMATION FOR
INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS
While the Conference cannot provide financial support, we recognize the
financial situation faced by scientists in some foreign
countries.
If other potential sources
are exhausted, scientists
with collaborators in the US can also contact their American
colleagues to explore possible support through the collaborators'
institution. If required by your potential sponsor, the
Conference will be glad to provide a letter of support.
For
foreign participants who bring evidence of sponsorship by a
non-government philanthropic organization, the Conference will consider
requests to register at the “pre-registration” rate
$850/$750 (non-IEEE members/Member) instead of the higher
“at-Conference” rates – a savings of
$100. This rate reduction will be applied to those sponsored
by organizations such as the CRDF or the ISTC, who have a standing
policy precluding payment of registration fees. To receive
consideration for this reduction, the attendee must bring from the
sponsoring agency a statement of sponsorship and a statement that the
sponsoring organization does not pay registration fees.
