INTRODUCTION

The
Pulsed Power Science and Technology Committee (PPS&T) of the IEEE Nuclear and
Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) and the Megagauss Institute, Inc.
sponsored a Topical Conference on Megagauss Magnetic Field
Generation and Related Topics at The Bishop's Lodge in Santa Fe, New Mexico on November 5-10, 2006. The technical program included an "International Workshop on High Energy Liners".
In addition to the full range of technical topics that are traditional for the Megagauss
series of conferences, the 2006 Conference in Santa Fe included special
sessions addressing the unique problems associated with high energy
liners, their dynamics, and their applications to high energy density hydrodynamics,
plasma physics, and fusion topics.
The Conference venue was The Bishop’s Lodge Ranch,
Resort, and Spa, near the charming city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Lodge, with
its rich combination of historical and modern accommodations, numerous
amenities, and American Southwestern atmosphere was
dedicated to the comfort and convenience of Conference attendees for
the entire Conference period.
TECHNICAL
PROGRAM

The
Technical Program for Megagauss 2006 included Plenary, Invited, and
Contributed papers in the areas of multi-megajoule, multi-megampere
technology for exploring regimes of high energy density and the
technology for creating high energy density environments. The
Technical Program included the "International Workshop on High
Energy Liners and High Energy Density Applications" including
hydrodynamics, plasma, and fusion physics. Proceedings of the
Conference will be published in both print and electronic format on CD.
On Monday morning of the conference, the Technical Program included a session memorializing the contributions to megagauss science and technology of our late colleagues V.K. Chernyshev and C.M. Fowler.
